Hi Lauren. This is an amazing article. I think the point about staffing is very important - and particularly relevant to anyone who works for a non-profit and decides that they need a social-media presence. It takes time to blog, Flickr, Tweet, etc - and more often than not, that extra effort becomes just part of someone's assumed duties without too much forethought.

Hi Lauren, awesome article.
I am interested in the party's care-taking of the volunteers. I wonder if they felt taken care of, or if the dynamic didn't require that, that perhaps the people were motivated by their euphoric involvement in an historic campaign... less care needed for individual volunteers. T'would be interesting to know. One interesting thing I heard was from friends in Denver who went to some of the DNC speeches and so on, where the price of admission was volunteering a certain amount of hours. Cool, eh? It is hard to imagine this happening in Canada, but inspiring to see the planning insight this shows. The key point you bring forward, I think is the value of the grooming of the lists process taking place well before the election. That is brilliant. I have done lots of NDP phoning during election campaigns here, and the list is always fraught with inaccuracies.
Cheers
